Antioch University Los Angeles will award degrees at its 41st annual Commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 23, 2013. Roughly 365 students graduated from AULA’s undergraduate and graduate programs this spring; an estimated 220 will walk in the commencement ceremony. The ceremony will honor graduates from the BA in Liberal Studies program, and the graduate programs in Psychology and Clinical Psychology, Creative Writing, Organizational Management, Education, and Urban Sustainability. 43 students who have completed AULA’s Bridge Program, which provides a year of free university classes in the humanities, will also be honored at the ceremony.
Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Luis Pedraja will call the graduates to the stage to receive their diplomas and shake hands with President Tex Boggs. For the second year in a row, AULA has chosen not to hire an outside speaker. Instead, each academic program has selected an exceptional student to give a commencement speech. The student speakers are: Adeena Bleich (MA in Organizational Management); Brandon Elliot (Bridge Program); Zandra Ellis (Master of Arts in Psychology); Samantha Lyon (Master of Arts in Education); John Paulett (Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing); and Cynthia Ruffin (BA in Liberal Studies).
This already sold-out event will take place at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus in Westwood, California, beginning at 3:00pm.
