“… It is a pity I allowed the assumption that education was a form of institutional control to gestate in my brain for so many years. Throughout my teens, into my first two years of college, I was forced to remember and regurgitate things that had little or no relationship to my personal experience or trajectory.

Eventually there came a time when my soul could not resign itself to meaningless endeavors. For me, Antioch University literally arrived as a miracle; shattering all my prejudices against education for which I felt eternally bitter for hijacking my early years, stealing my time and my creativity.

Every single learning experience at Antioch has been a function of my volition; I am learning things I would’ve otherwise sought on my own outside the traditional institutional confines; except at Antioch University I have found many other people like myself that were once brave outcasts. As students we have found common ground in making education a facet a greater will to take responsibility for social change and our collective future.… ”
