This is a three quarter time core faculty position in the Education Department. Antioch University Los Angeles seeks a candidate with a strong background in theory and practice and a commitment to progressive, emancipatory, and constructivist education. We seek a generalist with particular expertise in one or more of the following areas: elementary education methodology, philosophy and foundations, school administration, research design and/or environmental systems. This position includes course instruction, student teaching supervision, some administrative work within the program, participation in campus life, and contributions to the profession of teaching. Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level is required. The primary responsibility for this candidate is teaching so the candidate must provide excellent teaching evaluations. A strong background in publications is necessary as well as a commitment to professional organizations. Antioch does not have rank but this position requires a candidate who would be eligible for associate status. Experience in recruitment and program design as well as successful grant writing expertise is preferred.

Interim Core Faculty - MFA in Creative Writing

Status: Full-Time

Primarily creative nonfiction, additional genre(s) welcome. MFA in Creative Writing and substantial publications (including at least one book) required. The MFA in Creative Writing Program at Antioch University Los Angeles seeks an outstanding writer who is also an excellent teacher, as well as someone who can effectively share and perform program administrative duties with colleagues. An interest in program development is desirable. The new Core Faculty member will join a small, collaborative on-campus team of MFA Core Faculty who administer and teach in one of the nation's oldest and most respected low-residency creative writing programs. Familiarity with the low-residency model and online instruction is required; teaching experience in low-residency or online instruction is a plus. Core Faculty members are on campus year-round; each member helps design, plan, and administer a ten-day on-campus MFA Residency in December and another in June. During the Residencies, Core Faculty members teach workshops in their particular genre and seminars on literary topics. They also conduct student orientations, and assist with a variety of administrative duties. During the five-month online Project Period that follows each on-campus Residency, Core Faculty members mentor students, participate actively in the recruitment and admissions processes, and help administer various aspects of the MFA Program, including its online component. Salary is determined by qualifications and experience.

Interim Core Faculty MAP, Spiritual & Depth Psychology Concentration

The Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology Program at Antioch University Los Angeles invites applications for an interim full-time Faculty position beginning in October 2010. We are seeking a faculty member to lead and expand a new specialization in Spiritual and Depth Psychological Studies within the MAP Program, including curriculum development; some recruitment of adjunct faculty and students, administrative responsibilities within a small collaborative faculty group and community outreach.

This faculty position reports to the Chair of the MAP Program and is responsible for teaching two courses per quarter (some evenings, Saturdays and weekends), participation in faculty meetings, student advising, involvement in program and campus activities, and contributions to the profession and/or academic discipline, and other assigned duties.

The University is first conducting a search for an Interim Faculty person who will serve from October 2010 – June 2011. Beginning in the Fall of 2010 we will then conduct a national search for permanent Core Faculty member who will begin July 2011.
