Position Summary:

The Antioch University Los Angeles Director of Institutional Advancement, who reports to the Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement and a dotted line to the campus president, is responsible for:
1. Developing sustainable philanthropic revenue streams from individual major gifts and granting organizations
2. Engaging with the University’s alumni community to create quality long-term relationships between the alumni base and the University and between members of the alumni community

As a member of the AULA president’s leadership team, the Director of Institutional Advancement’s role is to collaborate with the broader University Institutional Advancement team to support the president of Antioch University Los Angeles to fulfill the campus’s mission. The Director is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the campus’s development and alumni program and will serve as the key representative for Antioch University Los Angeles with individual donors, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop a deep knowledge base of Antioch University Los Angeles’s programs and funding priorities to create and effectively communicate a powerful case for philanthropic support
• Manage relationships with AULA prospects and donors and will be expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward these very important alumnae and friends of the University
• Collaborate and provide strategic direction to the campus president, select board members, key faculty, and program directors to enable their ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donor prospects
• Actively engage with the Los Angeles community representing and advocating Antioch University Los Angeles
• Support campus specific grant seeking activity in collaboration with the Director of Grants and Foundation Relations and project initiators and write a select number of proposals during the course of a year
• Collaborate with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations to create a campus specific alumni relations program and be responsible for implementing the constituent facing engagement activities
• Collaborate with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations to capture campus specific messaging for alumni communications and fundraising appeals
• Accountability to established metrics and goals that assess progress and performance
• Support and liaise with Board of Trustee Institutional Advancement Committee and Alumni Advisory Council

Education and Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. Qualified candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in development and higher education or a demonstrated skillset that is highly applicable.

• Comfort and skill operating in an entrepreneurial program within a mature and established institution
• Data oriented person with experience working with The Raiser’s Edge or a similar constituency management software
• Demonstrated excellent writing, communication, presentation skills and organizational skills

Hours of Employment:

This is a full-time position. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor.
