We understand that not all learning takes place inside a classroom. Experiential learning is an essential and required element of an AULA education, giving students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned to real-world settings. This hands-on training enhances the academic experience, and serves students well as they embark upon the next chapter in their careers. AULA also values experiential learning by permitting BA students to earn college credits by documenting their prior learning experiences – personal or professional – that took place outside a classroom.
Every academic program provides unique opportunities for students to acquire experiential learning skills. Students in the LGBT-Affirmative Psychology Specialization within the Clinical Psychology program may train at Colors LGBTQ Youth Counseling & Community Center. And students in our Teacher Credentialing programs serve as student teachers in urban classrooms, gaining valuable teaching experience while providing educational enrichment to underserved populations.
