Student Voices

“[AULA] was a place where I learned to have a voice. The community, the instructors, and the students were always supportive.”

“I work in an agency that does a lot of Department of Mental Health work. It’s not LGBT-focused at all. But I still use what I learned in the LGBT Specialization all the time. I work with a lot of domestic violence victims, and I’m able to bring a feminist perspective and teach them about oppression. I challenge the null environment in my agency that ignores LGBT issues, which often do come up with clients. So I’m always grateful for having been in the LGBT Specialization.”
