Feeding the Mind, Heart, Spirit and Belly

As an integral part of the program, ACP students, faculty, community partners and friends meet informally on a regular basis. These gatherings provide students with an opportunity to meet with each other, network faculty, Ambassadors, Friends of ACP and with professionals from a variety of fields.

ACP Gatherings
Periodically ACP community comes together for a potluck dinner at someone’s home, or goes for an evening of bowling, pool, or to a cultural event. These informal get-togethers give us a chance to share information, discuss matters of the day, and are a great way to get to know each other.

Community Dinners
Three times a year, Summer, Fall, and Winter quarters the ACP community comes together for dinner at a local restaurant. These dinners bring students and faculty together for an informal evening of good food and conversation. These events are held on Wednesday evening of Week 11 of the quarter (the week after classes are completed).

Community and Social Justice Book and Film Club
The club is open to all members of the Antioch University Los Angeles community (students, faculty, and staff). The first meeting of each quarter will focus on the discussion of the selected book, the second meeting of the quarter will screen a documentary film that complements themes in the book. Each meeting will features a potluck dinner. Book selections will include classic and contemporary, scholarly and popular literature that focuses on issues of community and social justice in their broadest contexts. Films and books will cover topics such as community wellness, social capital, human diversity, violence, poverty, sociopolitical history, social justice movements, etc.

Annual Friends and Family Game Night
Each January, ACP comes together for a game night. This potluck event brings our community together during the dead of winter to play! Play board games that is! This family friendly event brings together students, faculty, friends and children for some not-so-serious Pictionary or Twister, or some very serious Dominoes or Chess. And of course, FOOD!

Annual ACP Picnic
This event brings our community together to enjoy the great outdoors with our friends and families. The event often features outdoor games such as Frisbee, outdoor eats and an occasional ant. The picnic is held in August

Annual Graduation Brunch
This is our largest and most important annual event. Each year we honor our new graduates and their families with a brunch. Open to all graduates, their families and friends and all current and former ACP students, and faculty, this event brings our community together to celebrate the achievements of our own, as they embark on new adventures. The brunch is held every June.
