Unique features of our teacher credentialing program include:
- One year full-time program
- Two start dates - either in April (finishing in March) or July (finishing in June)
- 4 quarters per year. Each quarter is 10 weeks long with a three-week in-between break
- Courses that are generally 3 units, although 1, 2 and 4 quarter unit courses are also offered
- Candidates are placed in participating schools each quarter
- Quarter one: 10 days of observation
- Quarter two: 2 mornings–a-week of observation/participation
- Quarters three and four: 4 full-time days per week apprenticeship
- Utilizes a cohort model that provides support and a team-like environment for candidates
- Rigorous expectations with all assignments designed to be practical
- Offers excellent team work among the faculty who work together to design assignments
- Committed support team
- No grades! Antioch discourages competition between students so our grading policy is credit/no credit with narrative evaluations for each class
- Encourages self evaluation and personal reflection by all students
- Strong commitment to social justice and opportunities to hear the voices of our candidates and their students through active decision making
- Employs faculty who are experienced practitioners
- Encourages a student body that is thoughtful, committed and worldly
- Classes meet Monday and Thursday 4-6:30pm and 7-9:30pm with a few Saturday workshops
- A year long schedule is available
