The Antioch Difference

Our Teacher Credentialing and Master of Arts in Education program places an emphasis on collaboration, cultural pluralism, social justice and educational change. The program integrates theory and practice with core competencies to best prepare you for the California credentialing process.

Central to Antioch University's Master of Arts in Education & Teaching Credential (TC/MAE) program is the belief that today's teachers must address differences within the classroom positively and directly, using them as opportunities for growth for both teacher and students. Teacher candidates are taught how to view each child as a person first, with individual rights and deserving of respect. Teachers need to learn creative methods to alleviate injustice and prejudice in the classroom and or school that hinders a child's ability to learn.

Antioch's teacher credentialing program focuses on issues of diversity and equity issues in every course offered and helps prepare students for the challenges of teaching in their own classroom. Antioch University teachers learn to develop effective, learning relationships with their students that are grounded in mutual respect and care. In addition to effective instructional knowledge and skills, the program prepares its teachers with the strategies to be an active and forward-thinking leaders in their school communities.

At Antioch, we can help you discover how education can be a powerful vehicle for social change.
