Starting July 1, 2009, the B.A. in Liberal Studies Program is offering a new minor area of concentration in Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender (LGBT)/Queer Studies.
This new minor combines a range of exciting interdisciplinary courses and independent studies with opportunities for internships at pioneering community-based organizations such as the LA Gay and Lesbian Center and Bienestar , where students may earn credit and gain professional experience by interning in service to the queer community.
The new LGBT/Queer studies curriculum includes the following courses, with additional ones under development:
Queer History of Los Angeles
LGBT Identity Issues
Queer Cinema
LGBT Counseling: Postmodern Skills and Collaboration
Queer Literature
Gay and Lesbian History in Documentary Film
Queer Theory
