Internships

Hands-on learning at local community organizations and other work settings offer B.A. students the opportunity to extend their classroom knowledge into the workplace and build their professional networks. Through internships students get to apply a range of new skills, play an instrumental role in a community organization, become an active participant in the city of Los Angeles, and integrate their applied learning through academic reflection.

Here's what students can expect from an internship:

• Academic credit, up to 4 units per quarter
• A range of sites, including some of the most progressive community organizations in Los Angeles
• Internship sites that match students' areas of concentration
• Paid and unpaid internship opportunities
• The opportunity to work individually or in collaborative teams
• State-of-the-art academic support for experiential learning
• One-on-one guidance to develop appropriate learning objectives, take advantage of academic opportunities, and showcase the outcome of internship learning
• A rigorous evaluation model that highlights the skills and knowledge obtained through the internship

 The demonstration of learning expected from interns are an Internship Journal and a Student Learning Analysis.  Internship enrollment procedures, academic standards for demonstration of learning, and current paid and unpaid internship opportunities can be found in the Internship Program Handbook posted in First Class Conference.
