The credentialing and master’s programs within the Education Department immerse students in progressive learning pedagogies, preparing them to be agents of positive educational reform.
Our teacher credentialing programs offers cutting-edge approaches to teaching in urban school environments. Our Master of Arts in Education programs provide students with the knowledge and tools to take on leadership roles in a variety of educational settings. Small, discussion-driven classes allow students to explore problems and solutions to the challenges facing today’s urban school system, combining theory with hands-on experience.
The instructors in our department are practitioners, working on a daily basis in the environment of the subject they are teaching. Fresh from the field, these individuals bring to our classes a real-world set of experiences that enhance learning in the classroom. We are lucky to be able to hire committed faculty members who walk the walk and help our students do the same, providing personalized attention to each student. Our instructors are committed to an intercultural perspective and bring a broad, international worldview to the classroom.
Antioch University Los Angeles and Antioch University Santa Barbara are campuses of a one-university system, and offer mission consistent options that are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
