Teacher candidates are taught how to view each child as a person first, with individual rights and deserving of respect. Teachers need to learn creative methods to alleviate injustice and prejudice in the classroom and or school that hinders a child's ability to learn.
Antioch University's teacher credentialing program focuses on issues of diversity and equity issues in every course offered and helps prepare students for the challenges of teaching in their own classroom.
Antioch University teachers learn to develop effective, learning relationships with their students that are grounded in mutual respect and care. In addition to effective instructional knowledge and skills, the program prepares its teachers with the strategies to be an active and forward-thinking leaders in their school communities.
