Antioch University Los Angeles offers progressive teacher credentialing programs, a Master of Arts in Education option after completion of the credential, as well as an interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Education, Leadership and Change degree that features a curriculum of cutting-edge critical pedagogy, social theory, and democratic educational practices for the common good of our urban communities.
Within our teacher credentialing programs, the specially-designed curriculum prepares teachers to meet the day-to-day challenges inside the classroom, and provides the skills and knowledge in leadership to become an active force in education reform. Students describe our program as rigorous – but they also say that AULA’s emphasis on intellectual development, knowledge of good practice, diversity, and character-building well-prepares them for their real-world teaching careers.
Students admitted to the teacher credentialing program can earn a Master of Arts in Education degree in as little as 4 quarters of further coursework.
In addition, we offer a stand-alone Master of Arts in Education, Leadership and Change degree designed to help you create the changes you want to see in the world. Our instructors are change agents themselves who practice what they teach. Our classes are small and discussion-based, and student work is evaluated through written narratives, not grades. Classes are offered one or two nights per week and occasionally on Saturdays. The program is designed with working adults in mind and is half time in nature, to be completed over 6 quarters of study.
The Education degree programs at Antioch University Los Angeles are simply unlike any other you could undertake in all of Southern California. But don’t take our word for it. The best way to learn more about AULA and our unique approach to education preparation is to visit us, sit in on a class, and experience a bit of what makes the school so unique. You will find a comfortable and progressive environment that is rich with history and ripe with possibility.
