Beyond the Classroom and into the Field
Every quarter each MA in Nonprofit Management cohort visits two exemplar nonprofit organizations in the Los Angeles community. At these sites, professional staff members from the organization host the students. Hosts lead a tour of the facilities and give a presentation about the organization through the lens of their specific role and function. These presentations focus on the students’ curriculum that quarter. By the end of the degree program, students will have visited and talked with staff at 12 local nonprofits.
Individual Field Work
Every quarter, each MA in Nonprofit Management student undertakes field work in a nonprofit organization of the student’s choice. Field work can be in the student’s place of employment, or the student can intern, volunteer in or consult to another organization. The student can change field sites and projects each term or choose to continue for a subsequent term. The field work is designed to maximize the student’s practical experience and networking opportunities in the nonprofit sector.
