Teacher Credentialing Program Admissions

Antioch University Los Angeles Teacher Credentialing with MA in Education option is designed for students who care about equal educational opportunities for all children, who have an interest in learning more about themselves, who are open to and tolerant of people who are different from themselves, who see children as individuals deserving of respect, and who can take a leadership role in social justice education and school reform.

The Teacher Credentialing program currently offers two teaching credential choices, one in Multiple Subject and another in Education Specialist. New students are admitted every Fall (October), Spring (April) and Summer (July) quarter.

To be considered for admission to the Teacher Credentialing program, you must submit the following materials to the Admissions Office.

  • The Online Application. Paper application available upon request.
  • The $60 non-refundable Application Fee. Payment may be made in the form of a credit card, check or money order made payable to Antioch University.
  • The Admissions Essay
  • All official transcripts. Request official transcripts of all post-secondary institutions from which you have received college credit. A grade point average of 2.8 overall or better is required. If your GPA is below that and you believe that it does not represent your true academic abilities, please provide a full explanation in writing.
  • A current resume. Within your resume, be sure to include all paid and volunteer positions. Specify name(s) of organization(s), dates of affiliation, your title(s) and responsibilities, and the names and phone numbers of your supervisors.
  • Two Recommendation Forms. Select at least two people to complete Recommendation Forms on your behalf. Recommendation Forms should be sent directly to the Admissions Office by individuals who can comment on your qualifications for the program. If you have experience with children and/or in a school, be sure that one of your recommendations describes your skills in that context. Additional Recommendation Forms may enhance the quality of your application.

All application materials submitted become part of an applicant's file and cannot be returned.

The Admission Interview - After we receive your application materials, we will contact you to make an appointment for a personal interview at a time convenient for you.
