Southern California is probably the only place in the west where a person can go from Skid Row to enjoying the great experience of higher education. I chose to continue my college education at Antioch University Los Angeles because the institution was in harmony with the new life I was creating. The University’s Undergraduate Liberal Studies program afforded me the opportunity to select and enjoy a variety of subjects, however I found myself drawn to Psychology. I also chose Antioch University because I wanted to make sure that I had the skills and knowledge to work effectively towards contributing to the upliftment and improvement of individuals within and outside of my community.

The vision that I created in my mind while I was temporarily in an indigent status produced a mission that Antioch University made possible. I never really thought about adult education prior to my studies at AULA, and now the mission has become real and I am forever indebted to this Institution for helping me to become an agent for social justice and change.
