Cynthia Strathmann has a BA in Anthropology and Biology from the University of California Santa Cruz and a PhD in Anthropology from UCLA. The main focus of her research has been the role of ideology in structuring society through peoples’ beliefs about work, health, and well-being. She has studied a variety of topics including energy efficiency and utilities, organizing campaigns and ideology, the Los Angeles living wage ordinance, labor consultants, health clinic clerical workers, patient Internet use, health disparities, media audiences in Australia, masculinity and sports, and tourism and nationalism in Hawaii.
