Joanna Gerber is currently the Exectuive Director of University Marketing for the Antioch University system.  She originally joined Antioch University in January 2006 and – until the campus separation in 2007 – oversaw marketing communications for both the Los Angeles and Santa Barbara campuses under the Antioch University Southern California umbrella.  From 2007 to early 2014, Joanna was the Director of Communications and External Relations for the Los Angeles campus.  Currently, Joanna oversees all marketing including, advertising, social media, website and online initiatives for Antioch University’s multi-campus system.

Prior to joining AULA Joanna was a marketing, PR and branding consultant for the footwear and apparel industry within the greater Los Angeles area, working with fashion trend brands such as Chinese Laundry and On Your Feet.  From 2001-2005 she was the Marketing and Creative Services Manager for Deckers® Outdoor Corporation, which owns high-profile brands such as Ugg® and Teva® Footwear.  Before joining Deckers® Outdoor Corporation, Joanna handled marketing and customer-direct communications national companies including Forms+Surfaces, Fidelity National Title and Nine West, Inc.

Joanna attended Whittier College, and received her B.A. in Liberal Studies, along with her M.A. in Organizational Management, from Antioch University.  She recently completed her doctoral degree at University of California Los Angeles in the Educational Leadership program, where she received the 2012 program scholarship for excellence in academic achievement.  Her dissertation was entitled “MOOCs: Innovation, Disruption and Educational Leadership in Higher Education”. Joanna is also a 2011 graduate of the Harvard Management Development Program.

Originally from Santa Barbara, California, Joanna is a regional Southern California member of the American Marketing Association (AMA). She is on the advisory board of Boxers and Ballerinas, and has been involved as a volunteer at various non-profit organizations such as Stop AIDS Now, Goleta Education Foundation and The Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center.  In her free time she enjoys spinning, reading for pleasure again (after years of graduate school) and walking her dog.
