“I Can’t Stand Working in Groups!” Developing Collaborative Skills 2

Prepared and Presented by Sherry Wong, M.A. and Sylvie Taylor, Ph.D.

Open to All AULA Students and Staff

This Series is a community service of the MAP Applied Community Psychology Specialization

Working effectively in collaborative teams is a vital skill for the 21st century professional. Collaborative skills do not come naturally to most of us – collaborations are often sabotaged by our desire for control, recognition or simply wanting to have things our way. Lack of accountability, failure to follow-through, and ineffective communication are also factors that can compromise our collaborative efforts.
This workshop will focus on troubleshooting problematic collaborations. Strategies for direct communication and accountability (of self and others) will be discussed. Special attention will be paid to taking responsibility for one’s own lack of accountability and how to effectively communicate with collaborative partners when they are not meeting agreed upon expectations.
