Securing Employment in Community Mental Health

This workshop is designed to support students and recent graduates in securing employment in community mental health settings at the pre-licensure level (positions that provide hours toward licensure).

Workshop content will include:

  • Community mental health funding priorities
  • Strategies for locating position openings
  • Maximizing your relevant skill sets
  • Enhancing your skills while searching for a position

This workshop is for students and recent graduates of psychology, counseling and social work programs (MFT, LPCC, MSW, etc.) who are interested in working in the community mental health sector and/or for DMH contracted agencies. Workshop participants should have clinical training experience.

Participants should bring an up-to-date resume to the workshop. Workshop participants will receive resource materials to support their professional development and job search efforts.

The AULA Library requests submissions for the 2016

Library Research Award

3 awards / $800 each / 1 BA student / 2 graduate students

We want you to submit your research paper for the AULA Library Research Award! Three $800 prizes will be awarded to students: two awards for masters students and one award for undergraduate students. Winners will be honored at a ceremony. Application deadline is Friday, May 6.

You are eligible to enter if the following are true:
1. You are currently an enrolled AULA student
2. Have completed and submitted a research paper for a class, workshop, or independent study between April 1, 2015 and April 30, 2016
3. Have used AULA Library resources, print or digital, for your research

Essentials of DMH Paperwork

This day-long workshop will introduce participants to the essential features of Department of Mental Health (DMH) paperwork. Knowledge and familiarity with the format and expectations of DMH paperwork are necessary skills for clinicians seeking employment with DMH contracted agencies and organizations.
The workshop will review: Assessments, Treatment Plans/SMART Goals, Documentation/Type of Service, and Progress Notes.

Participants will receive a workbook with examples of completed forms and have the opportunity to practice using them during the workshop. This workshop is designed for students and graduates of psychology and counseling (MFT, LPCC, LEP, MSW, etc.) programs, as well as licensed professionals who are interested in working for DMH contracted agencies.

Workshop participants should have clinical experience. Workshop participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Course meets the qualifications for 7 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Individuals wishing to receive continuing education units for this course must present their BBS License Number and photo ID at workshop check-in.

Workshop begins promptly at 9:00 am.
Continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments included. Lunch on your own.
