Donald Strauss Earns Prestigious Certification as Part of Commitment to Urban Bike Culture
Donald Strauss, Founding Chair and Core Faculty for AULA’s M.A. in Urban Sustainability Program, has earned the prestigious certification of League Cycling Instructor from the League of American Bicyclists, a 125-year-old national bicycling organization that promotes bicycling and works through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America. With this certification, Strauss will be able to train all levels of riders how to confidently and effectively cycle for fun, fitness and transportation.
“League Cycling Instructors are the backbone of the League’s education program,” said Andy Clarke, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists. “Donald Strauss has demonstrated a proficiency in teaching, a love of cycling and a willingness to share these skills with other riders.”
Strauss is an expert on the phenomenon of urban alternative bike culture in Los Angeles as an emergent property of an urban ecosystem. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Sustainable Streets, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation that promotes sustainable, active transportation.
The Master of Arts in Urban Sustainability is a revolutionary, national low-residency program that will provides graduate level study in urban ecosystem science, urban planning and policy, activism and advocacy, urban environmental education, program evaluation, conflict resolution and mediation, sustainable practice, and research methods.
