Antioch University Los Angeles Announces Public Concert by Sonad Peace Project Founder Eric Stumacher
Free community concert featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev
CULVER CITY, CA – April 2, 2008 – Antioch University Los Angeles is proud to welcome world-renowned pianist Eric Stumacher to campus for an incredible one-night only concert. This special performance will be held on Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00pm and is free to the public.
Stumacher is the founder of the Sonad Peace Project, whose mission is to foster widespread social justice and peace through worldwide Sonad Players solo, chamber music, and orchestra concerts. The project also seeks to promote peace and social justice through participatory and multiplying artistic performance workshops which inspire profound connections across human divides.
The New York Times has called Stumacher’s music “extraordinarily effective”. The free concert will feature classic works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev. The grand piano used for the event is generously on loan from Field’s Pianos, home of the Steinway.
Stumacher recently returned from a goodwill tour of Israel, Palestine/West Bank, and Amman Jordan where he lead two concerts in Jerusalem, two in Nazareth, one in Kibbutz Mizrah, three in Ramallah, one on Bethlehem, one in Jenin, and two in Amman. The project also included solo recitals, chamber music with local musicians, and master classes and seminars.
A slide presentation and discussion about the tour will immediately follow the concert.
The event begins at 7:00pm at the Antioch University Los Angeles campus located at 400 Corporate Pointe in Culver City. General parking is available in the structure adjacent to the University for a small fee, or free evening street parking is available.
