A cheering crowd of 5,000 including President Clinton commemorated the event.

Fifty years ago, federal troops escorted Terrence Roberts and eight other fellow African American students into Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas as the first test of the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education ruling.

 

The face off then became the symbol of state resistance to desegregation it also showed the federal government’s resolve to assert “separate but equal” was no longer law. The Little Rock Nine, 50 years later have advanced in all walks of life from lawyers, educators, executives to professors including Antioch’s own Dr. Terry Roberts a faculty member within the Master's in Psychology and Master's in Organizational Management departments.
