On the students’ first visit to Little Tokyo, David Tripp led students in an exploration of public and private space in the neighborhood. Students looked at public memorials, parks, and retail locations, noticing how public space helps shape the neighborhood.

This year, Bridge students have the option to take part in a field study to map the cultures, histories, landscapes, and ideas in a neighborhood. For the fall quarter, students explored Little Tokyo. Over three Saturdays, we explored the physical space of Little Tokyo, along with the history, artwork, and architecture of this amazing community.
