Like Old Times

“My first quarter of Bridge was very interesting and exciting. It reminded me of my first day of college back in 1981. It was exciting to see older people my age going back to school to further their education. They say it is never too late, and a mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

We’re All-In

Posted by admin on 26 Feb 2009 | Tagged as: Events

All-In ‘09

We’ve launched the website for this year’s poker tournament (www.bridge.kintera.org/all-in09 ) and want to officially invite you to register for All-In ‘09: our second annual Poker Tournament Fundraiser for The Bridge Program. The tournament will be on Sunday, April 26th, at the Echoplex in Echo Park. It’ll be an afternoon of Texas hold ‘em style poker, prizes, and food. We’d love to have you and yours there!

The poker tournament works kind of like a walk-a-thon, bike-a-thon, or bowl-a-thon. It’s a poker-a-thon. People who’d like to play donate $25 – then raise at least $175 more for Bridge by getting sponsors from friends and family.  If you’re new to poker but would like to join us, don’t hesitate to register. You can come to one of our Texas hold ‘em teach-ins held in March and April. Details are coming soon.

With Opened Eyes

Posted by admin on 26 Feb 2009 | Tagged as: student posts

“Wow! What an eye opener. My first quarter of philosophy and writing was exciting, empowering, enlightening, and impressive. The classes imparted knowledge beyond measure for me. It brought a renewal and revival of my mind-set. I believe wisdom is a principle, and I like a common sense approach to and within my life (daily). I’m now going over a threshold of new opportunities of development, design, and ideas of how I need to go forth in my own unique style of growth and maturity as an author. I’m truly grateful for this program and the people involved. Again, thank you for the teaching.”

Save the Date for Poker: Sunday, April 26th

Posted by admin on 03 Feb 2009 | Tagged as: Events

All-In '09

All-In ‘09: The Second Annual Bridge Poker Tournament and Fundraiser will be on Sunday, April 26th, 2009 at the Echoplex in Echo Park.

Last year, over 35 Texas Hold ‘Em players played for some pretty amazing prizes — and raised over $15,000 for the Bridge Program. The funds you raised last year helped buy books, bus tokens, meals, and instruction supplies for this year’s Bridge students — all while playing some great poker.

We’ll be posting more info soon, with information on signing up, tips for raising your buy-in, and opportunities for you to practice your game before the big day. To get news as it happens, subscribe to our All-In ‘09 email updates. Just send an email to: poker-players@aweber.com

A Boat

“Bridge writing class was like riding in a small boat on a large body of water with lots of fish in it. Subconscious depth full of interesting stuff.”

All-In ‘09: Prizes

Posted by admin on 29 Jan 2009 | Tagged as: Events

All-In '09Last April, we raised $15,000 for the Bridge Program through All-In ‘08, a Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament. It was an amazing time (you can check out the photos here), and the funds helped pay for textbooks, tuition, bus tokens, and meals for Bridge students this year.

Last year, our grand prize was a new laptop, and we’re looking for some equally exciting prizes for this year’s winner. Please let us know if you have any ideas for us on this.

Jumping in the Deep End
